Listen dudes, I'm just no good at explaining this kind of stuff. Just go ask Wikipedia, mmkay? If you're still having having problems, you can catch me on my talk page.

- The best way to embed an image:
- Log in, upload the image you want to embed here, and remember the filename.
- (If you forget the name of the file you just uploaded, you can find it here or even here.)
- Paste this line into your article (replacing the filename and caption, of course):
- [[Image:Captin_Shmit.png|thumb|This is the caption.]]
- If you included the magic word, "thumb", then the image should have appeared to the far right along with the caption beneath it.
- Log in, upload the image you want to embed here, and remember the filename.
(If the image is relevant to the entire article, it is generally best to include this at the very top of the page - as in this example.)
Some very basic rules to follow
Although there are virtually no standards regarding what should or should not be included in WikiShmit, there are a few things we should all do to make it as easy as possible for others to read and edit it.
The Preview Button
- For starters, please, oh please use the "Show preview" button! I cannot stress this enough! Most people do not realize that every edit they make is reflected on the recent changes page. If you hit that save button after every single change, the recent changes page becomes fairly unreadable fairly quickly. The preview button is right next to the "Save page" button and makes the recent changes page a whole lot more readable when there's not about 30 edits to one page by one person in a minute. Even if you think you're done editing an article, just use the preview button because there's a pretty dang good chance that you'll end up changing your mind about it.
Including an Edit Summary
- Just above the save and preview buttons is the edit summary field clearly labeled "Summary:" This is where you type a sentence or two describing what you changed about the article. For example, a good edit summary might say something like, "Added a photo of the subject" or "Corrected several spelling errors" This also makes the recent changes page a happier place because then you won't have to actually view the edit to see what was changed. You may also check the box labeled "This is a minor edit" to flag it as such if the edit was little more than changing a single word or something like that.
